Wish Upon A Dish: Our Anniversary Dinner

Our Anniversary Dinner

Two reasons we went on vacation besides the obvious.

It was our 29th Anniversary and not knowing where next year will find us, we decided to do it BIG this year.

We have not had a vacation in 4 years.
As a matter of fact the last one we had was also in Key West.

Reason for going back to Key West.....

We love that place!!!

I had read about Latitudes restaurant last time we where there but missed the ferry in time for dinner. This year we had Stacy (our concierge at the Waldorf) make a reservation for dinner & the ferry.
This is the dock where the ferry leaves from. It is where all the schooners and sailboats are docked.

At the same time each night, all the boats (the party catamarans, the sailboats and the dinner cruises) leave on their nightly sail and positioning to catch that famous Key West sunset.
See that big sailboat? We will be on that one later in the week for a wine and cheese sun & sail cruise.

Now, Latitudes is on a small island to the west of Key West called Sunset Key.
There is a resort on one side and the other three are private homes. Absolutely beautiful.

This is the dock leading to the restaurant. We arrived at 7:00 with a sunset at 7:45.

This was our view from our table. We wanted outside but the Maitre D told us it would be too windy outside and the sand would ruin our dinner. I'm not sure if I'm buying that, but The Nudge was happier with that arrangement.

As the sun set we shared stone crab appetizers and a martini with this view.

I ordered the Key West Lobster and Pink Shrimp Cannelloni in a Lobster Butter and Wine Sauce. OMG, it was so good but rich and I left one behind....boohoo!! You can bet I will be making these soon.

The Nudge ordered the Sweet Potato Encrusted Snapper which he hasn't stopped talking about yet. I will be making that also.

As we were leaving to catch the ferry back to Key West, this was the patio outside. I would have liked to have our coffee and Sambucca out there. Next time.

The whole night was a dream and has snuck into our list of top 10 favorite meals of all time.
